“Foxes back to winning ways as they take on the Irish” January 30, 2009

There is a new look to the Foxes this week. Tre comes back into the team after being out for nearly 2 months and newcomer Vicki makes her debut appearance. Goal keeping duties are shared amongst the Foxes with Kalee starting the game in the net.
Foxes took control of the game early on and had most of the possession, deftly passing the ball around, running into every space available and intent on scoring early on. Myra was attacking the net early on up front and her first couple of shots were close but came off the post and then had a couple saved. Celine was as eagerly looking for a goal and was shooting at every opportunity with great force and venom. Many shots were stinging the hands of the keeper! Both had good chances and only the keeper’s excellent skills, who was clearly their best player, stopped them from opening their account. The team virtually monopolised possession in the opening stages and continued to do so throughout the game.
Tre who intercepted a ball, made an excellent run up front and slotted a low ball into the net and opened up the Foxes account. In spite of the numerous shots the first half ended with this being the only goal.
The Foxes pressed and probed as they looked for a decisive second after the break. Celine made a silky pass through the middle to Kalee who had made a great run into open space and was able to convert this into her first goal of the season.
Vicki had a great game, mostly up front but covering players too. She made some great tackles and interceptions and made herself available throughout the game having good shots and giving layoffs to other Foxes.
Myra & Celine were able to finally break the keeper in the second half to each get a goal that they justly deserved.
All the Foxes were tirelessly covering the back and leaving no LIC player unmarked. We all showed great strength and awareness for the whole game.
LIC had good pressure on the ball and marked well but had very few chances at goal. They were slow to react to throw ins from their keeper which were often intercepted by the Foxes who were good at reading the game tonight.
All in all this was probably the best that the Foxes have played especially as a team with great communication. The only thing missing was a roly poly from Celine which we haven’t seen in a while!
Score: 4-0
Goals: Tre 1, Kalee 1, Myra 1, Celine 1
Supporters: Johnno & Charlotte (with supporter competition she didn’t skip off to do postcards this week J)
Well actually I did do a roly poly, it was a small one but I’m very sad you appear to have missed it: I was pushed by an Irish, fell of my arse and even got a free-kick for it. Superbly taken goal by the way.
Foxes come on where are the weekly updates???? Excellent results are coming in thick and fast and poor Diver is chomping at the bit to read the write ups. Don’t make me come down there and tell you lot off!!!!
Keep up the good work foxy ladies!
